How to review vinyl test pressings?
Today, we’re going to talk about what you should be listening for when reviewing your test pressings…
Ironically, I got some test pressings in the mail the day before I recorded this episode…
Here are 3 things I listened for when I reviewed my test pressings…
1. Everything in its right place? First off, make sure it’s your record, and make sure the songs are in the right order and on the correct side.
2. Consistent noises? If you hear something you don’t like, make a note of the exact spot on the record and check other test copies to see if the noise/error is present on multiple copies in the same place. If so, contact your sales rep!
3. Listen on multiple turntables. If possible, take your test pressings to a friend’s house and listen on other record players and stereos. This will help give you a clearer picture of how your records will sound out in the world!
