5 Mistakes Record Labels Make
When Using Bandcamp
Here are a few simple things you can do to increase the opportunities for fans support your artists!
Not having product images.
Make sure you take nice photos or product mockups of your merchandise (t-shirt, hats, posters, etc) as well as your music products (vinyl, cassettes, CDs). Give the customers something to get excited about receiving in the mail.
Not submitting your release to Bandcamp editorial.
Check out the link below and make sure you submit your new single/album/EP to the Bandcamp staff to be considered for Bandcamp Daily and Bandcamp Weekly. Make sure to give them 2-3 months lead time for new releases!
Not utilizing the mailing list feature.
You can easily and instantly send messages directly to the fans and supporters of your record label. Make sure you use this feature by letting them know about new releases and upcoming promotions!
Failing to add Bonus Items
Increase the chances of a fans supporting your artists by offering something they can’t get from streaming. Like a PDF of the album’s lyrics or bonus songs.
Failing to Provide a Bandcamp Window
It’s also a great idea to give Bandcamp an early release window as a way to earn more off of your true fans! Set the album for sale a day or week early on Bandcamp and secretly alert your followers or your mailing list.
