What is the best email platform to use?
MailChimp is great because they let you use it for free up until ~1000 subscribers. I know a few people who have used Flodesk in the past, they are affordable and elegant. I personally have been using Squarespace Campaigns because it integrates well with my website which is also hosted by Squarespace.
Most email providers offer similar services for a similar fee, so don’t stress about it too much. Just pick the one that feels right.
Should I care if someone unsubscribes?
You shouldn’t even be looking at the unsubscribes. Just let them go, there’s no hard feelings. This is your mailing list naturally pruning itself. In fact, you want to keep your mailing list small with relevant subscribers. Too many non-targeted subscribers can increase costs with your hosting provider, plus it will decrease your open rate!
“Au revoir” to the unsubscribes, they likely weren’t going to buy from you anyway!
What do I include in the emails?
The most important thing is that you stay consistent in your sending schedule. Therefore, whatever you choose to include in your emails should be things that you can keep up with on a consistent basis.
Feel free to include coupon codes, seasonal sales, behind-the-scenes content, details on a new artist or release, and other pieces of content that your fans would find valuable!
